The 2024 Italian Grand Prix: Ferrari’s Triumph in their home circuit

The 2024 Italian Grand Prix, held at the iconic Monza circuit on the 1st September, delivered

an unforgettable weekend of racing, with the introduction of two new rookies, Franco

Colapinto for Williams replacing Logan Sargeant, the only American on the grid. Whereas,

Kimi Antonelli getting his maiden chance to race for Mercedes in FP1 faced an unfortunate

52g crash in the W15.

A surprising incident unfolded on Thursday as the F1 safety car ended up in the barrier at

parabolica during the high speed lap test, luckily Maylander and his passenger were unhurt

and climbed out of the car unaided.

Qualifying: Lando Norris has continued his promising run of form by taking a stunning pole

position, with his McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri locking out the front row in a super-close

qualifying session. While the Woking outfit came out on top, the leading six cars were all

covered by less than two tenths of a second, with George Russell the closest challenger in P3.

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz followed in fourth and fifth for Ferrari as they look to give

the Tifosi something to cheer about.

Race day: “Mamma mia, mamma mia!”- Charles Leclerc scores a remarkable win by 2.6s over

Piastri after a perfectly-executed one stop race, the first win for Ferrari at Monza since 2019.

Carlos Sainz successfully finished P4

The McLaren partners Oscar Piastri and L.Norris secured P2 and P3. While Lando Norris had a

nervous moment as he locked up his tyres to get within the speed limit for the pit lane, he still

managed to set the fastest lap.

Everything seems to be going wrong for Red Bull Racing in the Italian Grand Prix. After a

dramatic qualifying session on Saturday, Max Verstappen had to start from P7. Then things

also went wrong at his pit stop, finishing the race at P7. While his team-mate Perez securing

P8, right behind George Russell.

George Russell envisioned to win Mercedes' fourth race of the season at Monza but messed

up his run to the first corner on lap 1 causing major damage to his front wing causing him to

lose his P3 qualifying to a P7 race finish. Sir Lewis Hamilton holding strong finished P5 gaining

a position in the starting laps.

Alex Albon maintained his position throughout the race adding 2 points to the 2024

Constructor championship for Williams, while his teammate Franco showed quite an

impressive performance finishing P12 considering it was his first ever F1 GP .

Yuki Tsunoda’s saddening DNF on the formation lap as he pulled over to the side of the track

as smoke came from his AlphaTauri. It was P13 for Daniel Ricciardo, the RB driver havingreceived two penalties in the early stages of the race.

Esteban Ocon was the lead Alpine in 14th, putting him ahead of team mate Pierre Gasly in

15th, and Valtteri Bottas followed for Kick Sauber in 16th place.

Nico Hulkenberg ended the day down in P17 for Haas, while Zhou Guanyu was 18th for Kick

Sauber and Lance Stroll was the last classified runner for Aston Martin in P19.

It was quite a Penalty-filled race but ended well for Ferrari and McLaren.
