Meet Nikhat Zareen - a 26-year-old boxer, hailing from the small town of Nizamabad in Andhra Pradesh.
In March 2023, Nikhat created history in women's boxing in India and worldwide, by bagging the gold medal at the IBA Women's World Boxing Championship held in New Delhi.
A two-time world champion, she has carved a niche for herself in women's boxing, both nationally and internationally.
But her journey thus far has not been so easy. It was her father, Mohammed Jameel Ahmed, who first noticed her talent at a young age and decided to nurture it. All thanks to the support of her parents, and her intense dedication and passion; Zareen was able to brush off the taunts of her relatives and has broken all stereotypes to become a world champion.
She strongly believes that boxing has helped her build the courage needed to face the toughest challenges of life; both physically and mentally. “After I became a boxer, I felt more independent. I had no fear as I could protect myself.”
Nikhat Zareen inspires millions of young girls in India, who nurture their magnificent dreams every day and work relentlessly towards it to create a positive impact. She is a symbol of resilience, passion, and courage, and her achievements are a matter of great pride for our country. Jai Hind!
