During the Bahrain Grand Prix, Mercedes struggled with pace and finished in 5th and 7th place, with Lewis Hamilton finishing 51 seconds behind the leader and his teammate George Russell finishing 56 seconds behind. Hamilton has admitted that the W14 Mercedes is not currently capable of challenging Max Verstappen and Red Bull for the title bid. He is considering retiring after the 2023 season. The team is hoping to improve in Saudi Arabia and beat Aston Martin, who finished in 3rd and 6th place. Red Bull, on the other hand, is confident for the next race and is in a good position with Sergio Perez leading the Bahrain 1-2 finish. Ferrari had a worse race than Mercedes, with Charles Leclerc having a DNF and Carlos Sainz finishing in fourth place, leading to questions from team principal Frederic Vasseur. Red Bull is looking to lead the fight for the title bid in 2023, while Ferrari and Aston Martin will be close contenders. Mercedes is not expected to have a car to compete for the championship. Toto Wolff is not happy with the team's performance, while Christian Horner is expecting to win both the drivers' and constructors' titles, even hoping to win all 23 races in the calendar. Hamilton is having thoughts that he may never win a race again in his career.
