The 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix held on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, turned out to be an exhilarating race, with Redbull once again dominating the top positions on the podium. Sergio Perez secured the top spot with teammate Max Verstappen finishing in second place. The race was not without its share of drama, as Fernando Alonso initially finished in third place, only to be demoted to fourth position following a time penalty, but his podium position was reinstated after an appeal by the Aston Martin team.
The race began with Alonso taking the lead in the first lap, while Perez fell back. Charles Leclerc, who started the race from P12, made a strong start, moving up to P6 on soft tires. Lance Stroll also had a good start, overtaking Carlos Sainz to claim fourth position. However, his race ended early due to an engine issue, causing a yellow flag and a safety car to be deployed, which affected Leclerc's strategy as he had just pitted a lap earlier.
As DRS was enabled, Perez reclaimed the lead from Alonso, while Verstappen made his way up the field. Hamilton managed to overtake Carlos Sainz to claim fifth position after pitting for medium tires instead of hard ones. Alonso received a 5-second time penalty for starting the race in the wrong position but managed to finish the race in third place, securing his 100th career podium. Verstappen moved up to second place following a pitstop and was able to pass Russell and Alonso.
Williams had a disappointing end to the race, with Alex Albon retiring due to brake failure, and Sargent failing to score points, finishing in P16. Kevin Magnussen managed to score his first points of the season, securing tenth place, while his teammate Hulkenberg could only manage twelfth position.
The race showcased the dominance of Redbull once again, with Perez and Verstappen finishing 1-2. Ferrari faced disappointment yet again, finishing in sixth and seventh positions, while the Aston Martin team had a mixed result with Stroll retiring and Alonso receiving a time penalty but eventually securing a podium finish. Overall, the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix proved to be a thrilling event, and fans of the sport eagerly anticipate the next race.
